Piano lessons with Seyon Kim
As an active solo and collaborative musician, Seyon Kim has performed at major venues in the Washington D.C. area including the John F. Kennedy Center, The Mansion at Strathmore, the historic James Monroe House and the Jewish Community Center of Greater Washington. She has also made appearances at various venues across the United States.
Seyon completed her Bachelor of Music and Master of Music degrees in piano performance at the Eastman School of Music. Her principal teachers have included Fernando Laires and Thomas Schumacher. She completed her Doctor of Musical Arts degree at the University of Maryland under the tutelage of Larissa Dedova.
Outside of her performing career, Seyon has been a frequent judge for the James C. Macdonald Fine Arts Scholarship Competition in McLean, Virginia. She has also contributed to the International Piano Archives at the University of Maryland and has taught at the School of Music at the Jewish Community Center of Greater Washington. Seyon has taught students of all ages and levels. Her teaching focuses on technique, artistry and music theory in the context of various styles, periods and genres. She believes in encouraging talented young musicians with kind and constructive instruction.
