Our son has taken saxophone lessons with Mr. Wilson at the Bellevue School of Music throughout his high school years. Our experience has been of the utmost professional. Mr. Wilson has been an excellent teacher with technique and mastery of the sax. Very importantly, he has been encouraging and inspirational. Mr. Wilson has gone above and beyond working with our son assisting in recordings, preparing and supporting him at local, regional, state and national competitions, and giving us guidance on purchasing a new instrument. As life can be unpredictable at times, we also have appreciated how accommodating Mr. Wilson has been in scheduling lessons. We highly recommend the Bellevue School of Music.

My son studied at Bellevue School of Music for several years. We chose BSM because we had seen other students who studied at the school garner the first chair positions in the high school band and also do very well at the Washington State Solo/Ensemble Festival and also get into the All-State and All-Northwest bands. Mr. Robert Wilson, the school’s founder and saxophone/clarinet teacher, helped my son improve his tone production immensely and did a fantastic job of preparing my son for competitions.

My son has been taking lessons from this school for that last 8 years. He started on clarinet, added piano, guitar, and saxophone. The lead teacher/owner has guided him through classical and jazz training and he was able to compete at State contest, go to All Northwest Band, and achieve the highest jazz band in his high school. He is going to music school in the fall, thanks to Robert Wilson and all the teachers at the school. I have NEVER known the owner to be unreasonable or irritable in any way! My son has autism and the owner even learned about special techniques in dealing with autistic music students. This is the best place to learn any instrument! My younger son also took flute and piano at this school for 7 years.

My original review was deleted, so I’d like to reaffirm that I am an actual student of Robert Wilson’s, and this review is not spam (please do not flag it as such). Reprinted below is my original review:
“I’ve been taking saxophone lessons from Robert Wilson, the owner, for four years now, and my experience has been great. He is exceptionally patient, flexible, helpful and knowledgeable. He has taken me from being a “good” saxophone player entering high school to being the principal saxophone player of the All-National Honor Band my junior year. He has gone above and beyond as a teacher, driving hours to attend my competition performances, purchasing recording and lighting equipment for video auditions, and spending hours personally editing my recordings. I would recommend his studio and him personally to anybody interested in music lessons, at any level.”

I really enjoyed my first year of saxophone lessons for a couple reasons. First the lessons were very informative and Mr.Wilson helped me with my band music and other solo pieces that I was struggling with. He have me music that was both entertaining and a little challenging. Mr. Wilson also helped me with many of my auditions, and therefore I got into Jazz Band, and got lead alto in cadet band. The lessons are an amazing experience for me.

In my nine years of experience, the Bellevue School of Music has been an incredible place to learn. When I first started taking clarinet lessons as a fourth grader, I could barely read a staff, but as a graduating high-school senior I had placed at the state-level Solo and Ensemble competition a total of four times. The depth of study available and personal attention provided by the teachers are both truly exceptional. As a junior, I attended an international chamber music festival in Luxembourg for two weeks and performed on equal terms with undergraduate and graduate college students from around the world. The best part is that the instruction is just as effective for beginners as it is for already skilled players. No matter what your playing ability, if you want to learn an instrument, you can at the Bellevue School of Music.
