Robert Wilson, founder of the Bellevue School of Music, draws on his extensive knowledge and love of music, along with many years of teaching experience, to create a stimulating environment for students.
Mr. Wilson works with students on creating good tone quality, and technique, while introducing them to the principals of music. He works patiently with students, encouraging them, and helping them to build self-esteem.
Mr. Wilson challenges his students with exciting pieces of music, and motivates them to stretch themselves and further their skills. His repertoire includes both jazz and classical.
Mr. Wilson works with students ranging from beginning through advanced. He accepts students on recorder beginning at 6 years of age, students on flute at 7 years, and students on clarinet and saxophone at 9 years. Some of his most successful students were once young beginners in the studio!
Mr. Wilson has taught private music lessons for over 16 years. His students have been widely recognized for their performing abilities. Many have been awarded first chair in school bands and orchestras throughout the area, and have received awards for solo performances.
Before opening Bellevue School of Music, Mr. Wilson was Director of Music at Edmonds Cyberschool. At the Cyberschool he developed and administered a complete set of programs from private lessons, through Orchestra and Jazz Ensemble. Mr. Wilson has also taught at Central Washington University, California State University at Long Beach, Citrus Community College and Rio Hondo Community College.
Mr. Wilson has done Graduate studies at Central Washington University. He holds a Bachelor of Music degree in Performance, from California State University at Long Beach. Through the years Mr. Wilson has performed in Masterclasses with renowned musicians including: Julius Baker, Michelle Debost, and Louis Moyse. Mr. Wilson's teachers include: John Barcellona, Bill Green, John Reilly and Bill Liston.
Mr. Wilson has over 29 years of performance experience. He has performed in over 40 musical theater productions, played in clubs in the Los Angeles area, and played lead alto in many professional big bands. Mr. Wilson has also contracted his own chamber music and jazz ensembles.
