MAYUMI TAYAKE

Piano instruction

Ms. Mayumi Tayake enjoys teaching piano to all ages of music lovers. She believes the knowledge and experience she received from her mentors is to be passed down to the next generation. She believes that great music is made from solid foundation and strong devotion to the art; though, music is to be enjoyed and to become part of who you are.

Aside from teaching, she is an avid performer of classical music and often performs in solo and chamber music recitals throughout the United States and Japan. Her past performance venues include Carnegie Weill Recital Hall (NY), Kretschmer Recital Hall (MI) and DeVos Hall (MI). Her competition prizes include the winner of 68th Young Musicians Concert Series, MTNA/ Baldwin Competition, MTNA/ Yamaha State Competition, MMTA competition, and Grand Rapids Symphony Concerto Competition.

She received Bachelor’s degree in Piano Performance from Manhattan School of Music (NY) and Master’s degree in Piano Performance from Florida State University as a recipient of James Streem Endowment and Graduate Teaching Assistantship. Currently she is finishing her Doctor of Musical Arts degree at University of Washington as a recipient of Graduate Teaching Assistantship.

Most recently, Ms.Tayake has recently begun teaching at Grays Harbor College in Aberdeen, WA.
