Oana Rusu Tomai
Piano instruction
Oana Rusu Tomai made her first solo public debut at the age of 12 with Youth Orchestra of Cluj, Romania. At age 17, she was touring Romania with a celebrated Eastern European actress in a recital of poetry and Romantic music. In 1995 Ms. Tomai immigrated to the United States; since then she has performed solo piano recitals, as well as with orchestras in venues such as Brevard School of Music (North Carolina), Aspen School of Music (Colorado), Chautauqua Summer Institute (New York), and at various schools she attended-among them Indiana University School of Music and Eastman School of Music.
Ms. Tomai's extensive music education, teaching experience, and her belief that music is an important part of education makes her remarkably enthusiastic in offering all her students the precious gift of music. Her teaching style is a combination of musicianship, technique, theory, and information on diverse musical styles, all taught within the context of music history.
Equally important, Oana believes that music is a powerful asset that enables everyone (child or adult-regardless of musical experience) to develop to their full potential. Oana received a Doctorate of Musical Arts in Piano Performance and Literature from Eastman School of Music, Rochester, New York, in May 2005. Among her most recent projects is a George Crumb concert in the Greater Seattle area and her establishment of a professional piano duo.
