Sophia Karakouta
Piano and Voice instruction
Sophia Karakouta made her solo debut at age 16 with the Thamyris Women's Choir in Thessaloniki, Greece. A year later she became the youngest conductor in Greece to direct the Thamyris Children's Choir. For the next 5 years Ms. Karakouta would tour Greece and Rurope both as a soloist and a choir conductor taking part in numerous choral competitions.

Equally at home both as a singer and pianist, Sophia has performed as a piano accompanist and given many voice recitals in Thessaloniki and Boston. She also performed with the New England Conservatory Chorus, Chamber Singers the Light Opera Company, and has a future engagement with Bellevue Opera.

As a vocal instructor, Ms. Karakouta focuses on vocal health, range development and breath support. She expects students to apply everything that is being taught to their favorite repertoire, from Classical and Opera to Broadway and Music Theater songs.

During piano lessons, one is being introduced to great literature of famous Baroque, Classical and Contemporary composers combining the studying of technique, music theory and musicianship.

A native of Greece, Sophia Karakouta began her musical studies at an early age and later she moved to the US to study with William Cotton at the New England Conservatory in Boston, where she received the Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance.
