ESTHER M. JOH

Esther JohEsther M. Joh, a recipient of William Harrison Barnes Scholarship, studied with Alan Chow at Northwestern University, where she earned her M.M in Piano Performance. She received her B.M in Piano Performance from Indiana University in Bloomington where she received the Roe Van Buskirk Memorial Scholarship and Music Dean’s Award. She attended and graduated from Interlochen Arts of Academy and Camp.
Ms. Joh’s other former teachers include Jean-Louis Haguenauer at Indiana University, Steve Perry at the Interlochen Arts of Academy and Manami Kawamura at Biola University. Ms. Joh attended Gijon International Piano Festival, Aria Music Camp, and Interlochen Arts Camp. She has played in master classes for Robert McDonald, Julian Martin, and Antonio Pompa-Baldi. She has, on several occasions, worked with Marc Durand, Ursula Oppens, Daniel Shapiro, Sung-joo Lee, Kevin Fitz-Gerald, and Melvin Chen..
Esther Joh has performed recitals at the Lutkin Hall in Evanston, Illinois, Recital Hall, Ford and Auer Halls in Bloomington, Indiana, Chapel in Traverse City, Michigan.
Last summer, she appeared as one of the featured soloists with Oliver Diaz at Gijon Chamber Orchestra in Spain.
Ms. Joh is an active chamber musician, and has given chamber recitals at the Lutkin Hall in Evanston, Illinois, and Aria Music Camp in Ontario, Canada. She has been a devoted church pianist for many years. Ms. Joh is currently pursuing D.M.A degree at the University of Washington with G.S.A assistantship, studying with Craig Sheppard.
